Acapulquito Beach (Old Man's)

Acapulquito is the small beach at the south end of Costa Azul whose wave, Old Man's, is the friendliest surf break in Los Cabos. On flat days it's also a calm, Blue Flag swimming beach.

Surfing Old Man's

Old Man's is a slow, rolling wave over a mostly forgiving bottom, which is why surf schools use it and longboarders love it. It works best in summer, when south swells light up the San José coast. Rental boards and lessons are available around Costa Azul, and the bigger, faster waves (Zippers, La Roca) are just up the beach for when you're ready.

Swimming

On flat days, especially in winter, Acapulquito's water is calm, and Visit Los Cabos lists it among the placid beaches. It kept its Blue Flag with an A+ rating in December 2025. When the surf is running, swim elsewhere: Palmilla is a couple of minutes away.

Getting to Acapulquito Beach from Villa 1

About 28 km east of Villa 1 on Highway 1, 30 to 35 minutes, just past Palmilla at the Costa Azul end of the corridor. Access is from the ocean side of the highway around the surf hotels.

What to bring
