Half the point of a Cabo villa with a private chef is not having to choose a restaurant for eight people every night. At Villa 1, a private chef is available on request through our concierge. You get a chef who shops, cooks in the villa kitchen or at the outdoor BBQ, serves at your table and cleans up afterwards. You pay for the chef separately; the booking steps, typical costs and menu ideas are below.
The kitchen the chef works in
The indoor kitchen is fully equipped with island seating, an espresso machine and an ice machine. Outside, the outdoor kitchen and BBQ sit by the pool terrace, which is where chefs grill fish and meat on warm evenings. The dining table seats the group, or you can eat on the terrace by the fire.

How booking a chef works
Tell us your dates, how many meals you want, and any allergies or preferences. We connect you with a chef, who sends menu options and a quote. Most Cabo chefs charge a service fee plus groceries at cost with receipts, and Mexico's 16% IVA is often added on top. The chef is not included in the villa rate. For more on price formats and what's normal, see our private chef and villa services guide.
- Book as soon as your dates are firm, especially for holidays.
- Put every allergy in writing, with who has it and how severe.
- Agree how groceries are settled (per meal or at the end).
- Tip on the service fee, usually around 15%.
Menus our guests like
The best chef meals in Cabo lean on what's local: fish caught that morning, Baja shrimp, chocolate clams, ceviche and aguachile, and produce from farms around San José. Popular formats are a welcome dinner on arrival night, a taco night with a salsa bar, a ceviche and guacamole class by the pool, and a late brunch after a big night out. If you went sportfishing, a chef can cook your tuna or dorado the same evening.
Mixing chef nights with eating out
Most groups book the chef for two or three dinners and eat out the rest. On the resort, Cocina y Cantina is right on the beach. In town, a walk away, you have everything from street tacos to sushi at Nicksan. Browse restaurants and bars for ideas.

Four chef meals across a week
For a seven-night stay, a pattern that works well: a welcome dinner on arrival night so nobody has to go out after the flight, a relaxed taco night mid-week, and a celebration dinner on the last evening, served on the terrace. Add a brunch after the biggest night out. That's four chef services, with the rest of the week free for restaurants in town.
Groceries without a chef
If you'd rather cook yourselves, a Walmart Supercenter is about five minutes away by car, and we can arrange grocery pre-stocking so the fridge is full when you land. See grocery shopping near Médano.
Questions to ask before you book a chef
Good chefs are happy to answer these, and the answers tell you a lot:
- Is the quote per service, per person or per day, and does it include IVA?
- Are groceries included, or billed at cost with receipts?
- Does the price include an assistant or server for a group of eight?
- What's the holiday surcharge, if any, for Christmas Eve or New Year's Eve?
- Can you work with our allergies and dietary needs, and how do you avoid cross-contamination?
- Do you bring anything specialist, such as a paella pan or molcajete, or use the villa's equipment?
