Resort pools in Cabo get crowded by 10 a.m., especially in high season and at spring break. A Cabo villa with a private pool fixes that. At Villa 1 the infinity pool and hot tub are yours alone, on a terrace that looks across Médano Beach to Land's End, with the sand just past the edge.

Two catches: winter mornings can be cool, and a private pool has no lifeguard. Both are covered below, along with how the terrace gets used from 7 a.m. to midnight.

The pool terrace

The infinity edge faces the bay, so from the water you see the beach, the boats and the Land's End rocks. The terrace has shaded loungers under a pergola, an umbrella, and room to eat outside. The hot tub sits beside the pool with a small waterfall and the same view.

The terrace connects straight to the living room through full-width sliding doors, so the kitchen and the pool are one space in practice. With the Sonos on, most groups live out here.

Private pool vs resort pools

You get both. Villa 1 guests can also use the Hacienda Beach Club pools, which are larger and good for laps or a change of scene. But the private pool is where you can swim at 7 a.m. in silence, play music, let kids be loud, or have a hot tub at midnight without anyone else around.

Pool temperature through the year

Cabo's air is warm most of the year, but winter nights and mornings (December to February) are cool, and unheated pools can feel brisk. That's when the hot tub earns its place. From June to October, the pool is the only place to be at midday.

For month-by-month air and sea temperatures, see Cabo weather by month.

Pool safety with kids

A private pool has no lifeguard. Infinity edges and hot tubs call for active adult supervision, and we suggest one adult is always the designated watcher while kids are near the water. If you're traveling with toddlers, ask us about the pool area layout before you book so you can plan.

Keep glass away from the pool and hot tub; broken glass in a pool means draining it. Plastic drinkware makes life easier.

Evenings by the water

After sunset the terrace turns into the evening lounge: the fire feature on, the BBQ going, the arch catching the last light. A private chef can cook at the outdoor kitchen and serve by the pool; see villa with a private chef. Keep music at a sensible level late at night; Hacienda is a residential resort and neighbors are close enough to hear.

How guests use the pool through the day

Mornings are for laps and quiet swims before the sun gets strong. Around midday, most guests move under the pergola or head to the beach and come back when the terrace is in afternoon shade. Late afternoon is pool time again, with music and drinks, and after dark the hot tub takes over. In winter the hot tub is the favorite; in summer the pool gets used from breakfast to midnight.

Pool towels are provided. Bring reef-safe sunscreen, which is kinder to the pool filter and the sea, and a waterproof speaker is unnecessary: the Sonos covers the terrace.

Honest fit check

Worth paying for a private pool?

A good fit if

  • You want the pool without crowds or reserved-lounger games
  • You're traveling with kids who want to be loud
  • You like a hot tub in the evening with a view
  • You also want the ocean, a few steps away

Maybe not if

  • You want a lap pool for serious training (use the resort pools)
  • You want a pool party with outside guests (events need our written approval)
  • You want a pool bar and staff serving drinks

Good to know

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the pool private?

Yes. The infinity pool and hot tub belong to Villa 1 and are used only by our guests. The resort's shared pools are also open to you.

Is there a hot tub?

Yes, beside the infinity pool, with a view across the bay to Land's End.

Is the pool safe for children?

There is no lifeguard at a private pool, so children need constant adult supervision. Ask us about the pool area layout before booking if you are traveling with toddlers.

Can we have a pool party?

Gatherings beyond your registered guests need our written approval in advance. It is a residential resort, so keep noise reasonable at night.
