Families ask different questions from other guests. Can the kids swim in the sea? Is there a washing machine? Where does the baby sleep? Answers below for Villa 1, a family villa rental in Cabo on Médano Beach, the calm beach inside the bay. It sleeps eight in four bedrooms, and it's inside Hacienda Beach Club, a residential resort where most neighbors are families too.
Why the beach matters most with kids
Many Cabo resorts face the Pacific, where kids can't go in the water at all. Médano is in the bay, with a gentle sandy slope and roped swim zones, so building sandcastles and paddling in the shallows is normal here. Still watch the flags, keep kids inside the ropes away from jet skis, and stay out of the water after dark. Our swimmable beaches guide explains the flags.

Bedrooms for a family
Parents usually take the master suite upstairs, which has a king bed and space for a crib. The two upstairs queen rooms suit kids or teens, each with its own bathroom. Grandparents usually like Guest Bedroom 1 downstairs, with outside access and no stairs. There are no bunk beds or twin rooms, so siblings share queen beds. Full details on the 4 bedroom layout page.
Pool safety and supervision
The private infinity pool and hot tub are a big part of why families pick a villa, and also the main safety job. There's no lifeguard; agree on a designated adult watcher whenever kids are near the water, and keep the hot tub for older kids and adults. If you have toddlers, ask us about the pool area before booking.
The stairs inside the villa are another thing to think about with toddlers. Bring or ask about a travel gate if your little one is a climber.
Family logistics that make the week easier
The practical things matter more on a family trip than the view:
- Full kitchen with island seating, and a Walmart Supercenter about five minutes away; see grocery shopping near Médano.
- Laundry room with washer and dryer.
- TVs with cable in every bedroom, Apple TV in the living room, and fast Wi-Fi.
- Air conditioning, with zoned units in the guest bedrooms.
- Private airport transfers on request, so car seats and luggage are sorted before you land.
- Pool table, poker chips and cards for rainy or hot afternoons.
Kid-friendly things to do nearby
Glass-bottom boats to El Arco leave from the beach and take about an hour, which is the right length for small kids. Seasonal sea turtle releases and whale watching from mid-December to April are family favorites. Older kids like Wild Canyon and snorkeling at Santa María or Chileno bay. Our full list is in things to do in Cabo with kids.
The resort advertises a supervised Kids' Club; ask us if it's operating for your dates and how villa guests sign up.
Best months for a family trip
Thanksgiving, Christmas and spring break are the classic family weeks, and the most expensive, with longer minimum stays. Late October and early November have warm water and lower rates. Summer is hot and humid but quiet, and the pool gets used all day. See the best time to visit Cabo.
How a day with kids usually goes
Early breakfast at the kitchen island, then down to the beach before 10 while the sand is cool and the water calm. A glass-bottom boat to El Arco before lunch. Back to the villa for lunch and naps in air-conditioned bedrooms during the hottest hours. Pool and hot tub in the late afternoon, with a pool table break for the older kids. Early dinner at Cocina y Cantina on the resort, or tacos in town, and bed. Parents can then sit by the fire on the terrace.
Build in one lazy day with no plans for every two busy ones. Kids tire quickly in the Cabo sun, and the pool is enough entertainment on its own.
