Talay Thai Kitchen at Montage

Talay Thai Kitchen is the Thai restaurant at Montage Los Cabos, on Santa María Bay. When you've eaten tacos and grilled fish for a week, it's the change of pace a group needs. Chef Marc Narongchai runs an open kitchen with a wood grill under a palm-frond roof, and dishes come out street-truck style to outdoor tables lit by lanterns and candles. A full-size Buddha statue greets you on the way in.

Everything is built for sharing. Get the Thai ceviche with hamachi, Marc's fried chicken, the khao soi spicy crab noodles topped with fried soft-shell crab, pad thai with grilled tiger prawns, and the crispy whole fish (pla rad prik) with what the menu calls the chef's mom's sweet chili sauce. Finish with mango sticky rice. The kitchen will adjust the heat if you ask, and there's a separate children's menu.

Dinner runs daily from 6 PM to 10 PM. The menu online doesn't show prices; it's a luxury resort, so budget accordingly. Book on OpenTable and give your name at the Montage gate. Since it's all outdoors, bring a light layer between December and March, when evenings on the corridor get cool.

For a family or group dinner, it's one of the best choices on the corridor, since the food is easy to share and the kids' menu takes the pressure off. From Villa 1 it's about 20 minutes by car. If someone in your party wants Mexican instead, Mezcal is at the same resort, and COMAL at Chileno Bay is five minutes away.
