What it's like
This is a town beach rather than a resort beach: families, coolers, kids in the water and the odd municipal event, like a free outdoor movie night in January 2026. It sits inside the bay, so the water is usually calm, and it made the Blue Flag list as El Corsario in the 2023 to 2024 cycle.
It's also next to the busiest boat channel in Baja California Sur. Stay close to shore and away from the marina mouth, and don't swim here after heavy rain. A man drowned here in February 2024, and in December 2025 a yacht sank just offshore.
After heavy rain, the state health agency (COEPRIS) sometimes advises staying out of the sea until test results come back; it did so for several Los Cabos beaches, including this one, in early September 2026. Give it a couple of days after a storm.
Should you go?
If you're staying on Médano, probably not for a beach day: Médano is right there with more space, lifeguards and food. El Corsario is worth knowing if you want to see where Cabo families spend Sunday, or if you're staying near the marina.
Getting to Playa El Corsario (La Empacadora) from Villa 1
About 3.6 km by road from Villa 1, roughly 10 minutes by taxi. It's close as the crow flies, but the road winds around the marina, so a cab is simpler than trying to walk it.
