Aleta
The sit-down restaurant at Corazón Cabo: Baja seafood, a sushi and raw bar, and Mexican breakfasts, a short walk up the beach from Villa 1.
Aleta: Seafood and Sushi Without Leaving Médano
Corazón Cabo Resort & Spa, the tall resort just north of Hacienda Beach Club, has two faces on Médano Beach. The beach club is daybeds and a DJ. Aleta, its main restaurant, is the calmer, sit-down option: a proper dining room and terrace, table service, and a menu built around seafood from the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific. It's open to outside guests and books through OpenTable.
Ocean-to-table here means the Mexican version. At dinner look for the seafood soup, an Acapulco-style seafood cocktail, tuna sashimi with serrano, and the crispy octopus. There is a separate sushi and raw-bar menu, which is handy if part of your group wants rolls and the rest want grilled fish. In the morning Aleta does Mexican breakfasts such as huevos motuleños (the Yucatán dish of fried eggs on tortillas with black beans and salsa), which make a good change from a hotel buffet.
It's about five minutes on foot along the sand, a little longer by the street. Breakfast starts at 7 AM and dinner runs until 11 PM, with lunch in between. Book ahead for dinner in high season (December to April), when the resort is full and outside tables go quickly.
Our take: Aleta is a solid, easy dinner rather than a destination restaurant. It suits a night when nobody wants to take a taxi, or a breakfast before a beach day at Corazón Beach Club. If you want a bigger night out, go downtown or to Pedregal. For drinks before or after, the Rooftop 360 is upstairs in the same building, and the sunset from up there is the better view.
