Cabo Wabo Cantina opened in April 1990, founded by Sammy Hagar with Eddie Van Halen, Alex Van Halen and Michael Anthony, together with business partner Jorge Viaña. It was conceived as a large bar, restaurant and performance space where Hagar and friends could relax and play music, and it grew into one of the best-known nightlife addresses in Mexico, as well as the namesake of Hagar's Cabo Wabo tequila.
Today the cantina on Vicente Guerrero in downtown Cabo San Lucas is open from morning until 2 AM, serving Mexican food and cocktails by day and turning into a live-music venue and bar at night. Expect a party atmosphere, rock memorabilia and a crowd that builds late. Menus for the Cabo San Lucas location are published on the Cabo Wabo website.
From Hacienda Beach Club, walk west around the marina and a couple of blocks inland to Vicente Guerrero, or take a short taxi, which is the easier choice late at night.
