Invita Antonello's Italian Kitchen
A cozy, family-style Italian kitchen on Calle Hidalgo with handmade pasta, grilled octopus, a cool wine room and a house red made in Tuscany.
Invita: Handmade Pasta a Block From the Marina
Antonello picks the wines himself, and the house red is made for him in Tuscany. His restaurant, Invita Antonello's Italian Kitchen (the sign often just says Invita Bistro), is on Calle Miguel Hidalgo downtown, a short walk up from the marina and about 12 minutes on foot from Villa 1. The idea is traditional Italian hospitality: family-style meals, shared plates and a warm welcome.
Every pasta is handmade. Reviewers in July and August 2026 ordered shrimp and seafood pastas, lasagna, gnocchi, pesto, eggplant parmigiana, carpaccio, fritto misto (lightly fried mixed seafood), grilled octopus and sea bass, and nearly all of them mention the tiramisu. That house wine is a Merlot and Sangiovese blend made with Castello di Querceto in Chianti Classico.
It's open daily for lunch and dinner from 1:30 PM, closing around 10:30 or 11 PM depending on the listing. Book through OpenTable or by email. Inside there's an air-conditioned wine room, which is a real advantage on a hot night, and there's live music some evenings. It's also dog-friendly.
Recent reviews are overwhelmingly five-star. The only sour note we found was a 2025 dispute over a discontinued local-resident discount. For visitors, it's one of the best mid-priced Italian dinners downtown. Compared with Romeo y Julieta it's smaller and more personal; compared with La Dolce, it's more about pasta than pizza. Parking is on the street, so walk: west along the marina boardwalk, then inland onto Hidalgo. Groups should email ahead, since the share-everything style suits a table of friends.
