La Dolce

Since 1997, La Dolce has been serving pizza in Los Cabos (the family business started in Puerto Vallarta in 1991). The Cabo San Lucas restaurant is on the corner of Calle Miguel Hidalgo and Emiliano Zapata, a block and a half from the marina and around 12 minutes' walk from Villa 1. Stefano Miotto runs the Cabo location and is usually in the dining room. There's a second branch in San José del Cabo.

The menu covers antipasti, salads, homemade pastas (including gluten-free), wood-fired pizzas, seafood, meat and fish. Reviewers order ravioli, mushroom ravioli, fettuccine Alfredo, penne alla vodka, lobster and seafood spaghetti, lasagna, chicken parmesan, fish with lemon sauce and caprese with burrata. Portions are big enough that leftovers are common.

It's a dinner restaurant: the official hours are 5 PM to 11 PM daily (Google shows 10 PM, so arrive before 9:30 to be safe). It's not flashy or noisy, which regulars see as a plus, and prices are fair for downtown. There's parking in a back lot off the side street, helpful if you've driven from elsewhere.

Families with kids who want pizza, groups on a budget, anyone tired of seafood by day four: this is your place. It won't wow you with the setting, but it's consistent. If you want candlelit romance instead, Romeo y Julieta is at the end of the marina; for handmade pasta with a sommelier touch, try Invita two blocks away. For a big group, call ahead on either Cabo number (+52 624 143 4122 or +52 624 143 9653). Takeout makes for an easy pizza night on the villa terrace.
