Los Tres Gallos

Come for the space. Los Tres Gallos, at the corner of Leona Vicario and 20 de Noviembre a few blocks up from the marina (about 12 minutes on foot from Villa 1), is a sprawling courtyard with brick, pavers and pink stucco walls, open to the sky, with a rooftop that opens in the evenings. Mariachis stroll between the tables.

Expect the classics. Reviewers in 2026 mention mole chicken, pork shank, tortilla soup, chile relleno, enchiladas, empanadas, ceviche tostadas, seafood tacos and catch of the day, with flan and churros for dessert. There are vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. It suits a group dinner where everyone wants something Mexican but not the same thing.

Dinner runs from 4 PM to 10 PM daily. Reservations are accepted on OpenTable, and they're worth making for larger groups or weekends. There's free parking, and the rooftop is a nice extra on a cool winter evening.

Reviews are mixed, though. People love the setting, the music and some dishes (the mole and pork shank come up a lot), but others report long waits, inconsistent food, poorly cooked steaks and expensive margaritas. Our advice: come for the atmosphere and order the Mexican classics rather than steak, check drink prices before a second round, and give yourself time. It's wheelchair accessible and has high chairs, useful when a group spans three generations. From the villa, walk the marina past Puerto Paraíso, then about five blocks inland; a taxi back at night costs little. For a more reliable downtown classic, try Mi Casa on the plaza.
