Puerto Los Cabos

La Playita, San José del Cabo

La Playita is the beach of the old fishing village of La Playa, just east of San José del Cabo and right beside the Puerto Los Cabos marina. It's where pangas launch and one of the few calmer spots on this stretch.

What it's like

La Playita is a working beach: fishing pangas on the sand, families on weekends and the marina breakwater at one end. That breakwater takes the edge off the swell, and travel writers list it as one of the few swimmable beaches around San José. It's much quieter than anything in Cabo San Lucas.

Local captains run fishing trips from here and the marina next door, and it's a short drive from the resorts and golf of Puerto Los Cabos.

After heavy rain, the state health agency (COEPRIS) sometimes advises staying out of the sea until test results come back; it did so for several Los Cabos beaches, including this one, in early September 2026. Give it a couple of days after a storm.
