Playa Las Palmas (Palm Beach)

Las Palmas is a secluded Pacific cove just south of Todos Santos, backed by a palm grove around a patch of fresh water, and one of the calmer beaches on this coast on the right day.

What it's like

Palm trees run right down toward the sand, and the rocky headlands on either side give some shelter, which is why guides describe it as sometimes calm enough for swimming. It's also completely undeveloped: no services, no lifeguard. Wild horses roam the area; keep your distance and don't feed them.

If you like a walk, the trail from Punta Lobos follows the headland to this beach.

Getting to Playa Las Palmas from Villa 1

About 78 km from Villa 1: Highway 19 north to about km 57, then a rough unpaved road to a parking area near the beach. A higher-clearance car makes the last stretch easier. You can also hike in on the coastal trail from Punta Lobos.

What to bring

  • Water, food and shade
