1 & Only Taco

Most of the food right on Médano Beach is priced for the beach. 1 & Only Taco is the fix: a small, family-run taquería on the road behind the beach (Camino Viejo a San José, near Camino Real), about a 12-minute walk from Villa 1. It has a handful of tables, some of them out by the street, and a short menu that is almost all tacos.

Reviewers order fish and shrimp tacos, al pastor, chorizo, carne asada and chicken, plus smoked marlin and sea bass. The house salsas are made in-house, tortillas are corn (which helps if someone in your group avoids gluten), and the guacamole is made at the table. It's a hole in the wall in the good sense: friendly owners, simple food, reasonable prices.

A couple of practical notes. Hours differ between listings: Google shows noon to 11 PM daily, while an older TripAdvisor listing shows earlier closing and a day off on Fridays. The phone number also differs between the two. Treat it as a lunch or early-dinner stop and check Google on the day. Reviews are fewer than the big downtown taquerías, but the ones from 2026 remain positive.

Walk out of Hacienda's street entrance and head up toward the Camino Viejo a San José, the road that runs behind the Médano hotels. It's also a short taxi. Pair it with a beach afternoon, or send one person to pick up a takeout order for the villa terrace. For a bigger taco crawl, the downtown options (Tacos Gardenias, Tacos Guss and La Taquiza) are 10 to 15 minutes further west. Carry some pesos too, as you would at any small taquería, in case the card machine is having a bad day.
