Chamuyo: Argentine Asado a Short Walk From the Villa
Since 2011, Chamuyo has been grilling Argentine-style on Avenida del Pescador, opposite the ME Cabo hotel, in the cluster of bars and restaurants behind Médano Beach. It's a small, warm room built around the asador, the open grill where the cook works the fire in front of you. There's live music most nights, which makes it feel more like a neighborhood place than a resort restaurant.
Eat it in the classic Argentine order. Start with empanadas and provoleta (grilled provolone), and if you're adventurous, mollejas (sweetbreads). Then pick your cut: vacío (flank), bife de chorizo (strip), tira de asado (short ribs across the bone) and the big beef rib that many tables share. Grilled salmon and a couple of pastas are there for anyone who doesn't want beef, and chimichurri comes with everything.
Reviews are more mixed than the setting deserves. Guests in 2025 and 2026 praised the empanadas, the service and the music, but several reported cuts that came out fattier or more cooked than ordered. Our advice: order the cut you know, say the doneness clearly, and share a few things rather than one big steak each. Chamuyo opens at 5 PM and closes at 11 PM every day.
Don't drive. Parking is scarce, and at least one reviewer was told to park on a red line and then got a ticket. It's under ten minutes on foot from Villa 1 anyway. Head up from the beach toward Avenida del Pescador and look for ME Cabo's entrance; Chamuyo is across the street. Reservations through the restaurant's website or OpenTable are a good idea on weekends and in high season.
