The Sand Bar has been a fixture on Médano Beach for more than two decades. By day it is a beach bar and grill with lounge chairs and umbrellas on the sand; in the evening the umbrellas come down, the tables are rearranged, and dinner is served by the light of tiki torches and bonfires. The raised lower deck gives an open view of the bay, the beach activity and Land's End.
What sets it apart is the massage deck on the roof, one of the best known on the beach, where full-body, deep-tissue, four-hand and reflexology treatments are given in an open-air area overlooking the water. Downstairs, the kitchen serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, with reviewers regularly mentioning tacos, octopus, burgers and quesadillas. Food and drinks are ordered at your chair or table.
The Sand Bar is a short walk east from Hacienda Beach Club along Médano Beach. Breakfast runs from 8 AM to noon, lunch from noon to 6 PM and dinner from 5 PM to 10 PM, with the beach area open 8 AM to 6 PM. Massages can be booked online a day ahead, or in person with a small deposit; walk-ins are accepted when there is space. Busy cruise-ship days fill up fastest.
