Tamara Beach Club Cabo

Tamara Beach Club opened on the old Blue Marlin site at ME Cabo, and it has taken over that spot's role as the stylish, adults-only beach club on Médano Beach. It's run by Grupo RosaNegra, the same people as Funky Geisha next door, and it looks the part: white daybeds, rattan, a DJ booth, and a direct view across the bay to the Arch. From Villa 1 it's about ten minutes' walk north along the sand.

Order to share; the menu is short. Black shrimp aguachile, super colossal octopus, Peruvian ceviche and a vodka rigatoni are the headline plates, with tacos, tuna tostadas and guacamole showing up in reviews. The cocktail list is its own document; the Hippie Fish (tequila, Mandarine Napoléon and tepache syrup) is the house signature. Prices for daybeds and minimum spends are not published, so ask when you book.

Hours are 10 AM to 6 PM, so think lunch and afternoon; for dinner, walk a few steps to Funky Geisha. Once a month Tamara throws a full-moon party (it calls them Pink Moon Parties) that runs later. Booking through the RosaNegra page or OpenTable is the easiest way to secure a daybed on a weekend or holiday. It's 18 and over only.

Reviewers grumble that the menu is limited, portions are small, drink prices aren't always clear, and the music can be loud if you were hoping to read. What they do love is the setting and the service. If you're a couple or a group of friends staying at the villa and you want one proper beach-club day, Tamara is the more polished choice; Corazón Beach Club, closer to the villa, is bigger and more family-friendly.
