What to expect in 2027
The American Meteor Society lists the 2027 Perseid peak as August 12 to 13, with meteors from July 17 to August 24. The moon will be about 79 percent lit, so expect fewer faint meteors than in a dark-moon year. Bright Perseids still cut through, and once the moon sets after midnight the sky improves a lot.
August is also Cabo's hottest month and the start of the stormier part of hurricane season, so cloud can be an issue. Check the forecast that afternoon and read our hurricane season guide if you're booking late summer.
Where to watch
From Médano, the marina lights limit what you'll see. For darker skies, drive 35 to 50 minutes north on Highway 19 to the Pacific beaches around Migriño and Cerritos. Warm nights make this far more comfortable than December stargazing: shorts, a blanket, bug spray and water are enough.
Summer is quiet in Cabo, so it's easy to plan a slow week around it: long pool days, a sunset cruise and a late night under the sky. Late summer is also the sportfishing season for blue and black marlin.
Tips for a summer sky night
Check the sunset time and the moonset time for August 12; the darkest window is between moonset and the first light around 5:30 AM. Take a cooler with water, as it stays warm and humid all night. Drive slowly on Highway 19, which has little lighting outside town, and park only where other cars park, since some beach access tracks are soft sand. If you'd rather stay close, the villa's terrace works for the brightest meteors after midnight, when the marina quiets down. Families with kids can make an early start, lie out for an hour after moonset and still be in bed by 2 AM.
