The course
Weiskopf's course opened in December 2001 in the hills above the corridor, and the club says every hole has an ocean view. In November 2023 six new holes by Fry/Straka Design opened higher on the mountainside, and the February 2026 scorecard still notes a renovation in progress, so expect some fresh work.
It plays 6,919 yards, par 72, from the back tees (rated 73.8, slope 140). Most visitors will be happier on the middle tees at around 6,400 yards and below.
What changed at Cabo del Sol
If you remember the Ocean Course, it's now the Cove Club, a private members' course. The Desert Course was renamed the Cabo del Sol Course and is the one visitors can book. Many older guides still list both as public, which is no longer true.
Booking and tips
Book online through the club, by phone (US 1-866-231-4677) or by email; a credit card is required. Green fees aren't published, so ask when you book and confirm whether taxes are included. The range is for pre-round warm-up only. Morning tee times get the calmest air; afternoons can be breezy on the upper holes.
Getting to Cabo del Sol Course from Villa 1
About 13 km east of Villa 1 on Highway 1, 15 to 20 minutes, to the Cabo del Sol entrance near km 10. Enter through the gatehouse and follow the club's map to the provisional clubhouse, which opened in 2023.
