Jack Nicklaus, private

Cove Club Course at Cabo del Sol (formerly the Ocean Course)

The Cove Club course is the Jack Nicklaus layout at Cabo del Sol that everyone still calls the Ocean Course. It's now private, for members of the Cove Club and their guests only.

Updated September 2026

Can you play the old Ocean Course?

Only as a member's guest. The club's own wording is that playing the course is reserved solely for members of the Cove Club and their guests. It was one of the region's most famous public rounds for years, which is why many guides and booking sites still list it; they're out of date.

The course runs along the Sea of Cortez at Cabo del Sol, and the club describes it among the top courses in Mexico and on Golf Digest's World's 100 Greatest list.

The public alternative

Next door, the Cabo del Sol Course (the old Desert Course) takes public tee times and has ocean views from every hole. For a seaside public round, Puerto Los Cabos has holes on the shoreline near San José.

Getting to Cove Club at Cabo del Sol from Villa 1

About 13 km east of Villa 1 on Highway 1 to the Cabo del Sol entrance near km 10. You'll need to be on a member's guest list to get to the first tee.
