Can you swim at Divorce Beach?
No. Divorce Beach takes the full Pacific swell. Waves break hard right on the steep sand, the backwash is powerful and rip currents run along the beach. People have drowned here, and rescues happen every year. On August 15, 2026, two US visitors were pulled from the water, and Civil Protection said afterward that the area remained restricted.
The danger isn't only swimming. Sneaker waves run far up the sand without warning, so don't stand at the water's edge for photos or let kids play in the wash.
How to enjoy it
Walk over from Lover's Beach, take in the view of open ocean with the Land's End rocks behind you, and walk back to the bay side to swim. Seen from a Land's End boat tour, it's just as impressive. Our older Divorce Beach page has more on the legend behind the name.
Getting to Divorce Beach from Villa 1
Take a water taxi from the beach in front of Villa 1 to Lover's Beach (about 10 minutes), then walk a couple of minutes across the sand through the gap in the rocks. There's no road access.
