Independence Day, baby turtles and the warmest water of the year, in the month with the highest storm risk.
September 2027 in Los Cabos
Mexican Independence Day starts on the night of September 15 with the Grito, the shout of "¡Viva México!" repeated from town halls across the country, followed by parades on the 16th. Expect music, flags, pozole and fireworks. It's the most Mexican night of the year to be in Cabo.
Public sea turtle releases usually start in early September and run until mid-December, and they're a lovely low-key evening for families. See our turtle release page.
September is historically the wettest month and the one with the most hurricane activity near Cabo. Many trips go off without a drop of rain, but build in flexibility and buy travel insurance. The reward is a warm sea, empty beaches and the lowest prices of the year.
