What the organic market is
This is where the San José crowd does its weekend shopping: stalls of vegetables and fruit from the farms around the Cape, bakers, cheese makers, coffee, honey, and a lot of ready-to-eat food, plus some crafts. It's small and friendly rather than a big tourist market. Think coffee and breakfast, a bag of greens and a loaf, and a wander.
We couldn't confirm the market's current hours or whether it takes a summer break, so treat the Saturday morning timing as the pattern, not a promise, and ask locally or check the market's social pages before you go.
What makes it worth the drive is the mix: you can eat breakfast, pick up produce for a villa dinner, and chat with the people who grow it, all in an hour or two. It feels a long way from the Médano beach bars, in a good way.
Who it suits and tips
Villa guests who cook get the most out of it, and it makes an easy family morning. It's not a reason to drive 40 minutes on its own if you only need groceries; the supermarkets near Médano cover that. It is worth it combined with a morning in San José's historic center.
- Go early for the best produce and before the midday heat
- Bring cash in pesos and your own bags
- If you have a [private chef at the villa](/cabo-guide/cabo-private-chef-villa-services/), ask them to shop here with you or for you
Making a morning of it
San José del Cabo is about 20 miles from Hacienda Beach Club via the Tourist Corridor, 30 to 45 minutes by car. Saturday morning traffic is usually light. Make a morning of it: market, a walk around Plaza Mijares, then lunch at Los Tamarindos or Flora's Field Kitchen. Our San José vs Cabo San Lucas guide has more on the town.
