What Halloween looks like here
Halloween isn't a traditional Mexican holiday, but in a tourist town like Cabo it has become a big bar night. Expect costumes along the marina boardwalk and in the downtown clubs on October 31, with many venues running their own costume parties. Specific parties are announced close to the date on each venue's social media, so we don't list them here until they're confirmed.
The more interesting part is what comes next. November 1 and 2 are Día de Muertos, when families build altars and visit cemeteries, and you'll see catrina face paint and marigolds everywhere. Coming for Halloween means you get both.
Where to go
The busiest stretch is the marina and the few blocks around it, including the bars along Blvd. Marina and the club strip near El Squid Roe. Our Cabo nightlife guide has the lay of the land. From Villa 1 it's an easy walk along Médano Beach to the marina, or a short taxi ride back late at night.
With kids, go early. The boardwalk is fun to walk in costume before 8 PM, and dinner at Hard Rock Cafe in Puerto Paraíso or on the beach keeps it simple.
Tips
Late October is still warm, with average highs around 90°F, so pack a light costume. It falls in the busy week after the big fishing tournaments, so reserve dinner if you're a group. Carry cash for covers and keep an eye on your drinks, as you would anywhere on a party night.
Getting back to the villa
Late on Halloween, taxis wait near the marina and the downtown clubs. Agree the fare before you get in; the ride to Hacienda Beach Club is short. Walking back along the beach at night isn't a great idea after a big night out, so plan your ride home. Our getting around guide covers taxis and rideshare in Cabo. If you're a group, the villa's pool deck makes a good pre-party spot before heading into town, and a late breakfast on the beach fixes most November 1 mornings.
