The course
Quivira climbs and drops along granite headlands and sand dunes above the Pacific. Nicklaus has said three holes hang over the ocean, and the ride from the 4th green up to the 5th tee climbs to about 285 feet, where a comfort station called the Cliff sits behind the tee. The 1st is an oceanfront par 4, and the course tops out at around 380 feet on the 15th.
It opened in 2014 and quickly hit the rankings: Golf Digest's World's 100 Greatest (No. 87 in 2018 and 2022) and the top three in Mexico. From the Black tees it plays 7,085 yards, par 72, rated 74.1 with a 142 slope; the Gold (6,609) and Blue (6,153) tees are the sensible choice for most visitors.
Who can play, and what it costs
The official rule is simple: you must be a resident or a guest at one of the Pueblo Bonito resorts in Los Cabos. If you're renting a villa and want Quivira, you'd need to book a Pueblo Bonito room for at least part of the trip.
Published rates in September 2026: from October to May, $465 for prime morning times (7:00 to 10:45), $409 mid-morning and $360 twilight; from June to September, $395, $348 and $306. Taxes are included, and so are the cart, range balls and all food and drinks at the four comfort stations, which are part of the experience.
Tips
Book tee times when you book the room; prime slots sell out in winter. Summer is cheapest but hot. Quivira publishes its aerification calendar each January with discounted rates on those days. If Quivira's out of reach, the Cabo del Sol Course and Solmar Golf Links are the closest public alternatives with ocean views.
Getting to Quivira Golf Club from Villa 1
About 10 km from Villa 1, 15 to 20 minutes through Cabo San Lucas and out on the Pacific side via the Quivira access road. Pueblo Bonito runs its own shuttles for guests staying at its resorts.
