Views, gates and the tunnel
Pedregal climbs the granite hill behind the marina and wraps around to the Pacific side. Streets are quiet and steep, and homes are built for views: many look straight out over the open ocean, which means sunsets over the water, something you don't get from inside the bay.
At the bottom on the Pacific side is the Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal, reached through a private tunnel cut through the hill. Its restaurant El Farallón sits on the rocks above the surf and is one of the most dramatic dinners in town.
The beach question
Pedregal faces the Pacific. The beaches below take the full swell and have strong currents, like Divorce Beach and Playa Solmar nearby. People who stay here swim in their pool and drive or take a taxi to Médano for the sea.
Getting to Pedregal from Villa 1
Drive or taxi, about 4 km and 10 minutes from Villa 1 through downtown. Pedregal is gated, so visitors to a private home need to be on the guest list. Walking up is possible but the hills are steep.
