What to order
The margaritas are big, strong and priced fairly for the marina; a February 2025 review put them at about 190 pesos each. The house special is the dirty monkey, a frozen, milkshake-style drink that reviewers mention again and again. It is sweet, so share one if you are not a dessert-drink person.
This is a hole-in-the-wall with a handful of seats, not a club. Some reviews mention live music; ask at the bar which nights.
When to go
Listed hours are 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily, which makes it a good first stop of the evening or a sunset drink after a day on the water, before dinner and the clubs. Afternoons are calmer; after 8 p.m. it fills with people starting their night.
Getting there from Villa 1
Plaza Marlin is on Boulevard Paseo de la Marina, on the downtown side of the marina. From Hacienda Beach Club, walk along the beach to the marina boardwalk and follow it around; allow about 15 minutes. Taxis and Ubers wait along the boulevard for the trip back.
It pairs well with a boat day: most sunset cruises and Land's End boat tours come back to the marina nearby. For dinner afterwards, Captain Tony's and other marina restaurants are a few minutes away, and our nightlife guide covers where to go next.
Who it suits
Go for a casual, cheap-ish drink with good service. It's the kind of bar where the bartender remembers you on the second visit. Families stopping for a drink in the afternoon will be fine; by late evening it is an adult crowd.
