What to expect
Where Mandala is a nightclub with a velvet-rope feel, La Vaquita is a party bar that does not take itself seriously. The music is hip hop, R&B, pop and reggaeton, the staff lean into the cow theme, and the crowd is mostly groups on vacation. Like the rest of downtown, it gets going after 11 p.m. and peaks after midnight.
Tables are sold through the same official site as Mandala, and the La Vaquita name also appears in Cancún and Playa del Carmen, so the format will be familiar if you have partied there.
Dress code and entry
Officially casual, but the same rule list as Mandala applies: no caps, hats, swimwear, sandals, flip-flops or tank tops. Bring a physical ID. If you booked online, bring the card you paid with; the door will ask for both.
Packages and prices
Tables and packages, including bachelor and bachelorette packages, are sold on MandalaTickets.com. In September 2026 La Vaquita packages were listed from MXN 4,800. Package inclusions are only honored for arrivals before 11:30 p.m.; buying several packages does not guarantee the tables will be together.
If you are just walking in, expect a cover at busy times and tourist-level drink prices.
Getting there from Villa 1
La Vaquita is on Boulevard Paseo de la Marina in the downtown marina area, about a 10 to 15 minute walk from Hacienda Beach Club along the beach and marina boardwalk. Take a taxi or Uber home late at night instead of walking back along the beach.
Pair it with dinner downtown, a first drink at The Nowhere Bar on the marina, or finish the night at Mandala a few blocks away. Our nightlife guide has the full picture.
Who it suits
If your group would rather dance to reggaeton and hip hop than EDM, this is the better of the two. Planning the whole trip for a group? Our bachelor and bachelorette guide covers villas, boats and nights out, and you can check dates for Villa 1, which sleeps a group within walking distance of downtown.
