The water ceremony
Grand Velas builds the visit around what it calls the Spa Water Journey: a circuit of hot and cold, different water pressures, aromatherapy and a jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and cold polar pool. The resort says this seven-step ceremony is included with every treatment, which is the main reason to choose SE Spa over a spa where hydrotherapy is an add-on.
Bring a swimsuit; it is required in the hydrotherapy area. Allow at least 45 minutes before your treatment to go through the circuit properly.
Signature treatments
The massage list is long. Highlights from the current menu:
- Blue agave signature massage
- Deep Tissue CBD massage
- Ice and Fire Fusion massage (alternating hot and cold)
- Ocean Sounds massage
- Reflexology and a prenatal Maternal Caress massage
Hours, rules and booking
The spa is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Minimum age is 16. Reservations are recommended, and cancelling less than six hours before your appointment costs 50 percent of the treatment. Phones must be switched off inside.
Grand Velas does not publish prices or say whether non-hotel guests can book. It is an all-inclusive resort, so outside access is not a given: call +1 888 505 8406 or email the spa to ask before planning a day around it. Expect prices at the top of the Los Cabos range.
Getting there from Villa 1
Grand Velas is on the Transpeninsular Highway at about Km 17, between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo. A taxi or Uber from Médano Beach takes about 25 to 30 minutes; allow more at the evening rush. Have your reservation confirmation ready for the gate.
If you are staying for dinner, the resort's tasting-menu restaurant is covered on our Cocina de Autor page. For more ideas on combining a spa day with the Corridor beaches, see our guide to swimmable beaches.
Who it suits
People who like a long, slow spa visit and want the hydrotherapy included. If you just need an hour of massage after a day on the boat, the Hacienda Beach Club spa next to the villa is far easier.
