What the Los Cabos Tennis Open is
Founded in 2016, this is a real ATP Tour 250 stop on outdoor hardcourts, played in the North American summer swing before the Canadian and US Open events. It celebrated its 10th year in 2026. Past champions include Daniil Medvedev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Cameron Norrie and Diego Schwartzman, and it tends to draw a few top-20 names.
It's a small stadium, which is the appeal: you're much closer to the players than at a big tournament. Early-round day sessions are the best value.
Dates and tickets
The 2026 edition ran July 25 to August 1 (ATP listed the main draw as July 27 to August 1). We expect the 2027 event around the same late-July week, but it hasn't been confirmed. Tickets are sold through the official site and Mextenis; the ticket contact is boletos@mextenis.mx.
The first couple of days are qualifying and early rounds, which are the cheapest and least crowded way to see good tennis. Semifinal and final tickets go first, so buy those early if you're set on a specific day. Once dates are out, check the order of play the evening before; big names usually get the night slot.
Summer in Cabo: plan for heat
Late July is hot and humid, and it's inside hurricane season. Evening sessions are far more comfortable than afternoon ones. Bring a hat and sunscreen for day sessions and plenty of water.
The upside of summer: villa rates are lower and the town is calmer. Our best time to visit Cabo guide lays out the tradeoffs.
Getting there from Médano Beach
Km 18.5 in Cabo Real is roughly 20 to 25 minutes by car from Médano Beach along the corridor highway. Uber and taxis both work; after night sessions, expect a short wait for a ride. For dinner, the corridor hotels are close, or come back to the marina and Médano Beach where you're a short walk from home.
