The Bath House and gardens
The Bath House is the center of the spa: a hydrothermal circuit with hot and cold plunges and a steam room, plus pink Himalayan salt rooms. Outside, the Nap Garden has a reflexology pool, a shallow pool lined with stones that you walk through slowly. Treatment rooms are open-air, so you hear the garden rather than a speaker.
The resort also keeps a cold plunge on the beach, which is a bracing way to finish a morning swim at Chileno.
Treatments and classes
Chileno Bay does not post its full treatment menu or prices on the website, so ask for the current menu when you call. The wellness program adds breathwork, sound baths, dance cardio and high-intensity classes in its Mindful Movement Studio, mostly aimed at hotel guests. The spa uses Dune Suncare, a reef-friendly sunscreen brand, which you can buy on site.
Booking and outside guests
Call the spa directly on 833 941 1354 (US toll-free) or the resort on 844 207 9354. Auberge does not state online whether non-hotel guests can book; ask when you call, and try for a weekday in the quieter months if the answer depends on occupancy.
Getting there from Villa 1
Chileno Bay Resort is at Km 15 of the Transpeninsular Highway. From Médano Beach it takes around 20 to 25 minutes by taxi or Uber. The public beach at Chileno is next to the resort, so a good plan is to snorkel there in the morning (see our Santa María and Chileno snorkeling guide), then check in for a midday treatment.
For lunch, the resort's Comal serves Mexican food on the water. Our swimmable beaches guide explains why Chileno is one of the safest places to swim on this coast.
Who it suits
Anyone who prefers a spa with good thermal facilities and gardens, and families who want to combine a calm swimming beach with a treatment for the adults. On days you'd rather not leave Médano Beach, the Hacienda Beach Club spa is a few steps from Villa 1 (check villa dates).
