Médano Beach: calm water, busy sand
Médano runs east from the mouth of the marina along the inside of Cabo San Lucas Bay. Because the bay is sheltered by the Land's End peninsula, the water is calm on most days, and this is the main swimming beach in Cabo San Lucas. The sand slopes gently, resort sections post lifeguards, and swim areas are roped off from boat traffic.
It's a busy beach. Hotels and residences line the sand, including Casa Dorada, Villa del Palmar, ME Cabo and Pueblo Bonito, with beach clubs and restaurants in between. Offshore you get water taxis, parasail boats and jet skis. The middle of the beach, around Mango Deck and The Office, is the loudest by day. The marina end, where Hacienda Beach Club sits, is calmer, and the far eastern end past the big resorts thins out.
Where to eat and drink
You can eat for a week without leaving the sand. The Office on the Beach has been serving breakfast with your feet in the sand for decades. Edith's is the classic dinner just above the beach, and Hacienda Cocina y Cantina is on site at Hacienda. For a drink with a view, Baja Brewing Rooftop and SUR Beach House are both a short walk.
Things to do from Médano
- Swim, paddleboard and kayak straight off the beach; see Médano Beach water sports.
- Take a water taxi or glass-bottom boat to Lover's Beach and El Arco.
- Walk the marina and malecón for sportfishing, whale watching and sunset cruise departures.
- Walk or cab it to downtown Cabo San Lucas for tacos and nightlife.
Getting around from Villa 1
You're already here. From Villa 1 at the marina end of the beach it's roughly 0.9 mi (1.5 km) on foot to the marina boardwalk and about a mile to the Puerto Paraíso mall. Water taxis to Land's End leave from the sand. For the corridor beaches, golf and San José del Cabo, take a taxi, an Uber (it operates in Los Cabos) or a driver our concierge books.
