How the Art Walk season works
The Gallery District Association started the Art Walk to pull visitors off the main square and into the back streets behind the mission church, and it worked. On Thursdays in season, barriers go up around 4:30 PM, galleries open their doors from 5 to 9 PM, and many pour wine or have the artists in the room. There's usually live music somewhere along the way.
The season follows the winter high season, November through June. The association hasn't posted exact first and last dates for 2026 to 2027, so the dates on our calendar are estimates; the first Thursday of November and the last Thursday of June are the safe bets. There is no weekly walk in the summer, though many galleries keep daytime hours.
Tips for a good Art Walk night
It's a relaxed, all-ages evening. Kids do fine early on, and it's an easy win for a group that wants a night out that isn't a bar. Our full San José del Cabo Art Walk guide covers the galleries in more detail.
- Arrive around 5 PM if you want to talk to gallery owners before it gets busy; 6 to 8 PM is the peak
- Book dinner ahead, since Thursday is the busiest night in the historic center
- Ask about shipping before you buy; many galleries ship internationally
- Wear flat shoes; the sidewalks are uneven
Getting there and where to eat
The Gallery District is about 20 miles from Hacienda Beach Club via the Tourist Corridor; allow 30 to 45 minutes, since the evening traffic toward San José can crawl. Parking in the center is tight on Thursdays, so most of our guests take an Uber or book a driver for the return trip. Getting around Cabo has the options.
For dinner, Mi Cocina at Casa Natalia is right by the plaza. If you want farm-to-table outside town, Flora's Field Kitchen is a short drive away; book it separately.
