Cabo spring break 2027 dates
US college spring breaks run through March, with the busiest days on Médano and downtown in mid to late March. The first week of March is noticeably quieter. In 2027, Easter Sunday is March 28, so Semana Santa runs from March 21 to 28, with Mexican families filling the beaches right on top of the late spring break weeks. In other words, the second half of March 2027 will be one of the busiest stretches of the year.
Local authorities expected 50,000 to 70,000 spring breakers in 2026, concentrated in a few hotels, the downtown bars and Médano Beach nearest the marina.
The weather in March
March is one of Cabo's best months: dry, highs around 82°F (28°C) and cool evenings. The sea is still cool for some swimmers. Humpback whales are usually still in the water, so a morning whale watching trip fits well around the beach days; see whale season in Cabo.
Where the spring break action is
The party runs on a daily loop:
- Daytime: beach clubs in the middle of Médano, especially [Mango Deck](/restaurants/mango-deck-cabo-san-lucas/), with contests, live music and packed loungers. [Taboo](/restaurants/taboo-beach-club-cabo-san-lucas/) is the adults-only, DJ-led option.
- Afternoon: party boats and booze cruises from the marina. Some, such as Pez Gato's Sunset Sail Party Cruise, are 18+ only.
- Night: downtown around the marina, with [El Squid Roe](/restaurants/el-squid-roe-cabo-san-lucas/), [Cabo Wabo Cantina](/restaurants/cabo-wabo-cantina-cabo-san-lucas/) and the clubs. Our [nightlife guide](/cabo-guide/cabo-san-lucas-nightlife/) has the details and dress codes.
The rules police enforce
Enforcement is visible during spring break, and most trouble comes from a few rules that visitors don't expect:
- No drinking or open containers on public streets.
- Bringing your own alcohol to a public beach can mean confiscation or a fine; drinks from a licensed beach club on its own area are fine.
- Public intoxication is an offense even without a drink in hand.
- Smoking is banned in public spaces, including beaches, under Mexico's 2023 tobacco rules.
- All recreational drugs are illegal, and buying on the street is a legal and safety risk.
- The drinking age is 18, and some clubs and boats set their own age limits.
A spring break day that works
Most groups that have a good time follow a similar rhythm. A slow breakfast, then out on the water before noon: a private boat or a Land's End boat tour is calmer in the morning, and you'll see the Arch before the traffic builds. Afternoon at a beach club or a pool, with plenty of water between drinks. Dinner in town around 8, then the bars. The next day, keep plans light until noon.
Budget for higher prices everywhere in March. Beach club loungers often come with minimum spends, boats and clubs raise rates, and taxis are in demand late at night. Cash in pesos for tips and small purchases keeps things simple; our tipping guide covers the norms.
Staying safe in the water and at night
Médano is the swimmable beach, which is exactly why it's busy. Swim inside the roped zones, away from jet ski lanes, and never swim after drinking or after dark. Beyond Médano, most beaches face the open Pacific and are dangerous; our swimmable beaches guide explains which is which.
At night, walk in groups on lit streets, keep your phone and cash out of sight, and use licensed taxis or Uber to get back. Agree a meeting point in case phones die. For more, see is Cabo San Lucas safe.
Spring break with kids
Many families come in March for school holidays, and it works well with a little planning. The crowds are concentrated around the big beach clubs and downtown after dark. Go out on boats in the morning, use a pool in the afternoon, book restaurant tables early and eat a little earlier than the party crowd. The far ends of Médano and the corridor coves are calmer. Our Cabo with kids guide has more ideas.
Book early
During spring break, flights, rooms, villas, private boats, beach club daybeds and Saturday airport transfers all sell out. Book the big items months ahead, and reserve boats and dinners before you fly. Expect higher prices and minimum stays everywhere.
If you want the energy of March with your own pool to escape to, our spring break villa on Médano sits at the calmer marina end of the beach, a walk from town. It's for families and groups who'll go out in town and keep the villa calm; it's not a party house.
