December 2026 in Cabo San Lucas

The first half of December is one of the quietest, best-value stretches of the high season. December 12 is the Día de la Virgen de Guadalupe, with pilgrimages and mañanitas at the churches, and the Geminid meteor shower peaks on the night of the 13th under a thin moon. The Los Cabos International Film Festival runs December 9 to 13 in San José del Cabo, and las posadas, the nine nights of processions and parties before Christmas, run December 16 to 24.

Humpback whale season usually opens on December 15 (the official 2026 to 2027 notice wasn't out when we checked), and the first whales start showing up in the bay. Our whale season guide covers tours and shore watching.

From about December 20 the town fills for Christmas and New Year's. Restaurants book up, boats sell out, and the marina and Médano Beach are at their liveliest on New Year's Eve. Evenings get cool, so pack a sweater for dinner outside.
